Dawn's Bottom
The above video is a taste of what you can encounter if you elect to dive what has been termed one of the top ten dives in Puget Sound. Named for Dawn Ulrich, the co-owner of Island Dives in Friday Harbor, you are well advised to use their boat to visit the size named for her. |
Harbor Seal at Cove 2
Here you will find a common partner for divers at Seacrest Cove 2, especially during a night dive when the harbor seals take advantage of the divers lights to be able to fish by. In many cases, you can expect to have a single or pair of harrbor seals join you at depths as deep as 105 feet and follow you all the way back up to three feet. |
Edmond's Oil Dock
The Edmond's Oil Dock is just down the road from the more popular Edmond's Underwater Park. Or, I should say, it was. At present parking and access to the site is prohibited due to earthquake remediation and there is some chance that if the Edmond's Fairy is moved to the site that it will be torn down and eliminated. Still, while it lasted, it was an extraordinary source of ratfish, tube worms and a host of other life to observe and enjoy. |
Grunt Sculpin
Grunt Sculpin are small and well worth keeping your lights on for and we would have to say that they are also cute. Scooting along by means of their pectoral fins, they do not so much swim as walk or hop on them. |
